de Ferrers working in partnership with QEMS

Dear Parents,

With its growing reputation, both locally and nationally, de Ferrers is often asked to support other schools by running conferences, working with government organisations or just offering our expertise in various fields.

The Local Authority has paid us a huge compliment by asking us to work in partnership with another Staffordshire school, which has recently been identified as a school that would benefit from additional support.  The purpose of this partnership is to use our capacity as an ‘outstanding’ college to improve the school in the short term, and in the long term build a mutually supportive partnership, or ‘Trust’, linking the schools in a formal manner.

I have been asked to become the Executive Headteacher of both de Ferrers and Queen Elizabeth’s Mercian School in Tamworth.  The matter has been discussed in detail at Local Authority and Governor level and the most important factor in this is that de Ferrers continues to develop and improve without any negative effect.  I believe by strengthening de Ferrers to ensure that this does not happen, we can successfully support another school.

It means, of course, that my availability will be less in the next term and Mrs Hulcoop, as Vice Principal, will assume a higher profile role during this time.  In the future, however, an Associate Headteacher is likely to be appointed at QEMS and I will be in charge of both organisations, with the majority of my time being spent on the de Ferrers campuses.

This has happened very quickly and I apologise for the relatively late notice.  The timescale was not of my making.  It is a tremendous compliment to all at de Ferrers.

Yours sincerely,

M A York
Principal
